I Knit London Treasure Hunt 12 June 2010

IKL will be celebrating WWKIP Day by inviting knitters (and their non-knitting friends!) to take part in our knitty treasure hunt - we'll be sending you off to wander the streets of central London, following our fiendish cryptic clues, dressing up statues, hunting celebrities, shepherding and knitting at some of London's most famous landmarks...

The I Knit London 'World Wide Knit In Public Day' Treasure Hunt is legendary. The annual treasure hunt will take place on 12 June, meet at 11.30am for send off at midday. People are invited to take part in teams of up to five people. This year's event will have a bingo element to make it more fun. Participants will be knitting their way around central London hunting for hidden treasure and little bits of knitting.

There needs to be one knitter per team as each time will be required to knit on their journey.There are lots of chances to win our fabulous prizes! Your team will need a name, a digital camera and something to write with. The event is very well attended so please let us know you are coming so we know how much cider and cake to have in stock. The treasure hunt is open to all, is family friendly and as lots of people come on their own we are able to create teams on the day.

Worldwide Knit in Public Day, Saturday 12th June 2010

World Wide Knit in Public Day was started in 2005 by Danielle Landes. It began as a way for knitters to come together and enjoy each other’s company. Even now, with knitting groups meeting day-by-day in public across the country there's still never a better time to celebrate the social aspect of knitting. There's something irreplaceable about the experience of sharing your passion for knitting with like-minded folk over a drink or two!
